Some added sugars are healthier than others which is the reason we use unrefined organic cane sugar in our preserves.
We have become very accustomed to fruits available all the year round, but you will find they have nowhere near the same level of flavour. Fruits are fleeting, lasting only a few weeks, but there is a way to capture that moment JAM or CHUTNEY. But not jam as you might know it, but a spoonful of deliciousness that tastes like the fruit it is, with just enough sweetness to bring out it’s full flavour. The only fruits we use are those which are ripe, organic and in season. Fruits such as this are bursting with natural sweetness, beautiful natural colour with an aromatic and luscious flavour. Using less sugar affords us the opportunity to concentrate on technique to capture and retain the true flavour of fruit and also making sure we utilise the natural sugars in fruits. The best source of whole sugar will always be fresh fruit.
Raw Organic Cane Sugar
We choose to use natural organic sugar cane in our products because of taste, texture, eco-friendliness, and nutrition, the best substitute in our opinion for the ubiquitous white sugar. Which is refined sugar made by extracting and processing the sugar naturally found in food like corn, sugar beets and sugar cane. Organic cane sugar is unrefined sugar minus the environmentally damaging pesticides present in conventionally grown sugar cane. Compared to white sugar, organic cane sugar has the full-bodied taste of sugar cane and is much less processed, retaining a lot of the nutrients present in cane juice.
Fruit and the Body
- Fruits are rich in water, which dilutes the sugar.
- They are also high in fibre, which slows down the release of fructose in the bloodstream.
- Fresh fruits are LOADED with nutrients that are essential to health and healing.
Preserves and Diabetes
We’re only a new startup, but we are planning to produce some preserves suitable for Diabetics.
Low Sugar Preserves
All of our preserves are made with minimal amounts of sugar. Here a few of our preserves with the least amount sugar, including the natural occurring sugars from the fruit.
